Hi there! I wanted to give you a brief tour on how to navigate our site.

A. You must be logged in to fully participate and have access to features like the ability to post.

When you are logged in, your screen name and personal avatar will be shown in the top left corner of every page. If you don't have a personal avatar, you might want to pick one out. There are 600 to choose from. (click here)

B. The basic navigation is laid out with a site tool bar (above your avatar) and a discussion-board toolbar (below your avatar)

Bullet: important point (click to insert in post)

1. Diagnosis + Treatment, Tips, and Tools are the articles, lessons, and reference material. This is the best of what we have learned over the years.

2. Help - please remember where this button is - you will likely be back.  Being cool (click to insert in post)

3. Groups, Post Questions, and Register to Post Here, are all links that will direct you to selecting and returning to a discussion group.

4. Show new replies to your posts will direct you to your threads and posts.  You can see a list of all of your posts in My Settings along with other personal stats.

C. Starting a New Topic

This is easy once you know where to go.

3.  Go to the Groups, click on a group to that you want to start a discussion in (see #3 in graphic above);
          -- or --
Go to the Register to Post Here and click on a group to that you want to start a discussion in.

5. New Topic is located at the upper right corner of each community board there is the following toolbar:

Bullet: important point (click to insert in post)

4. Show new replies to your posts will direct you to your threads and the responses you have received.

D. How to Post in an Ongoing Discussion Topic

This is also easy once you have done it.

6. Reply. After the last post on every topic, there's is a "Reply" tab.

Bullet: important point (click to insert in post)

7. Modify. There is a 10 minute period available for members to correct typos or formatting errors or ad additional thoughts.

8. Excerpt Tool.  Paragraph header (click to insert in post)  The site provides members the ability to quote important passages from other members threads. Please use this function only when it is critical for the thread host and other readers to see the text repeated. Duplicating content without a specific purpose can be annoying to other members. If you want to direct your comments to a specific person , please use "  Bullet: comment directed to __ (click to insert in post) " (i.e., Bullet: comment directed to __ (click to insert in post) Wilford Brimley)

E. Checking for replies to your posts or replies to topics that have been posted in

To the right of your screen name and personal avatar at the top of the page you will see two links. The first link shows you unread posts since your last visit...

Bullet: important point (click to insert in post)

The 2nd link ("show new replies to your posts") will take you to your previous threads that have new replies since the last time you looked at them.

I am exactly where I need to be, right now.

How does excerpting work?

There is a trick to it. Quoted text starts with a "before tag" and ends with an "after tag".

Before tag =
After tag =
So it works like this:
A sandwich walks into a bar. The bartender says, “Sorry, we don’t serve food here.”
or

Excerpt
A sandwich walks into a bar. The bartender says, “Sorry, we don’t serve food here.”

Got it?

Now the excerpt tool is a little fancy and it adds a name, date, and link.

Before tag =
After tag =
or this

A sandwich walks into a bar. The bartender says, “Sorry, we don’t serve food here.”

End quote bloat!  Please be very selective in what you quote. We suggest that you primarily quote questions asked by others that you are answering.  You can also quote a specific observation (be brief) that you are commenting on.

If you just want to say "in response to what Brimley said" you can use this icon -->   Bullet: comment directed to __ (click to insert in post) Brimley

If this ticket/citation is placed on post it is a friendly reminder that your quote was probably too long or irrelevant.

WRONG
What I've struggled with the most is the progressive distancing between us. Over the last couple of years she has shut down gradually, having less and less time for me, hardly calling or txting but then we'd meet up and it would be like everything was brilliant. I haven't handled it well. I've been nagging and I've suffocated her to the point where shes now telling me she no longer loves me. I'm just feeling completely distraught by that news. What should I do?

Distancing is particularly tough, especially if we have an anxious attachment style. When someone we love makes themselves unavailable, we engage in protest behaviors. When the reassurance doesn't come, we double down and keep doing the thing that probably isn't working.

Understandable. Distancing is particularly tough, especially if we have an anxious attachment style. When someone we love makes themselves unavailable, we engage in protest behaviors. When the reassurance doesn't come, we double down and keep doing the thing that probably isn't working.
