Haven't worked out how to use a quote from someone else's post in my reply - they appear as brown text in a brown box.

Also - can we have some additional emoticons - one pulling it's hair out would be welcome!

OPTION 1

There is a excerpt button just to the right of the title on the post your want to quote. Click it and it quotes the entire post and includes a link back to the post being quoted.  These are really helpful and easy!

<----

It's important to shorten the quote to just the material you are referencing  - other members (especially iPhone readers) don't want to unnecessarily re-read comments by others. To shorten a quote, just delete the unnecessary text.

Attention(click to insert in post) Not working?

If your quotes are not working, you probably erased part of the header or footer.  Try again, and be mindful of keeping the header or footer.

A header looks like this (it is specific for the post quoted):

Bullet: important point (click to insert in post)
A footer looks like this (they always look the same):
Bullet: important point (click to insert in post)
In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.

OPTION 2

There is a quote tool in the tool on above your text screen.

It's this little guy ----->

Highlight the text you want to quote and then click on ----->

This is fast and easy too.  It will not include a link back to the original post. You can always add a name to identify who said it.

OPTION 3

I just do it the old fashioned way, like this:

I wanted to respond to Otis Redding's comment "Ain't no sunshine when she's away".  Well, Otis, your lyric is "when she's gone".

I've wondered about this too. Here is my workaround:

- I drag to select only the bit I want to quote.

- CTRL + c     to copy it.

- In your reply, CTRL + v     to paste it.

- drag to select the text that you just pasted.

- click the Insert Quote (speech bubble) button.

The only thing you lose with this is that the poster doesn't get credited like they would if you'd clicked quote beside the message.

So I usually just type their nickname before the quoted text.

Another way is to copy the text to clipboard and then paste it between board codes; [action] [/action] where action is quote.
clipboard text here
It will look like this:

So when someone is quoting several lines from someone else and has answers of their own in between. Do you keep inserting the entire post and deleting the lines you don't want? I've seen posts that looked like this, but don't quite get how to do it.

End quote bloat

Please be very selective in what you quote. We suggest that you primarily quote questions asked by others that you are answering.  You can also quote a specific observation (be brief) that you are commenting on.

If you just want to say "in response to what tribucket said" you can use this icon -->   Bullet: comment directed to __ (click to insert in post)tribuket

If this ticket/citation is placed on post it is a friendly reminder that your quote was probably too long or irrelevant.

WRONG
What I've struggled with the most is the progressive distancing between us. Over the last couple of years she has shut down gradually, having less and less time for me, hardly calling or txting but then we'd meet up and it would be like everything was brilliant. I haven't handled it well. I've been nagging and I've suffocated her to the point where shes now telling me she no longer loves me. I'm just feeling completely distraught by that news. What should I do?

Distancing is particularly tough, especially if we have an anxious attachment style. When someone we love makes themselves unavailable, we engage in protest behaviors. When the reassurance doesn't come, we double down and keep doing the thing that probably isn't working.

Understandable. Distancing is particularly tough, especially if we have an anxious attachment style. When someone we love makes themselves unavailable, we engage in protest behaviors. When the reassurance doesn't come, we double down and keep doing the thing that probably isn't working.
