Before you can make things better, you have to stop making them worse... Have you considered that being critical, judgmental, or invalidating toward the other parent, no matter what she or he just did will only make matters worse? Someone has to be do something. This means finding the motivation to stop making things worse, learning how to interrupt your own negative responses, body language, facial expressions, voice tone, and learning how to inhibit your urges to do things that you later realize are contributing to the tensions.

Hi, this is the first step I take after being diagnosed with ptsd. I dated my ex for 2 years. He was charming, caring, lovable... .until he wasn't anymore. He yelled at me for no reason, and then blame me for it. I used to hide often, pretend I was asleep.

I wish I could rewind the last two years of my life and do it over again... .

I will post something more coherent later... .I just needed to take the first step and saying it to someone (you guys). I never told anyone about the extensive abuse I suffered... .and I not sure if I will one day

take care and thank you for posting... .for the past 2 months I've read and read and read all of your stories... .makes me feel that there's hope.

Welcome Rain. Sounds as if you've had a really hard time, my sympathies to you.

You've taken the first step of diagnosis, and the second of posting here, where you will receive support.

There is hope and recovery is possible.

Take care, nurture yourself and hope to see you on the boards.
