VIDEO: "What is parental alienation?" Parental alienation is when a parent allows a child to participate or hear them degrade the other parent. This is not uncommon in divorces and the children often adjust. In severe cases, however, it can be devastating to the child. This video provides a helpful overview.

Facing the facts sometimes reveals things that we don't like.

I see a solid thought process in your posts and I think your pathway for the future of the r/s is pretty clear.

What do you think is your first step?

You sound pretty clear on your answer -- You are done with him.

I'm glad that we helped you clarify that.

Let me suggest you stick around here a bit longer, for two things.

First, even if your decision is made, having a safe place to process yoru feelings around this kind of thing is very valuable, and most people in your life just don't understand either how this kind of r/s feels to be in, or how to deal with a pwBPD/what they might be thinking/feeling.

Second, you have a good bit more work to do in order to separate from him. The devil is in the details, and you need to work out details with somebody who is mentally ill! We're here to support you in this as well.

Note: We have a legal board here; since you have a bunch of legal/financial stuff to unwind with him, you would do well to ask for advice there on how to go about it.
