Good visit with BPD DD31 over holiday.

I am so encouraged after our BPD DD31, her partner M and their 4 week old son spent 10 days with us. They got on the road this morning for the 14 hour drive home. We have been helping them live on their own in another state this year. It has been a big financial commitment and worth it. They are good with the baby even when he is fussy. We will see how things go as M begins working soon. DD really relies heavily on him.
DD and M both have been heavily involved in drugs for many years. They left our state last March to get away from the drug using community. They each have some minor legal commitments that are avoiding as well. They have been clean for 10 months now. There is not the raging/anger now. DD's other issues are more clear to me -- the areas that she really needs daily support around from ADHD and anxiety disorder. We talk on the phone daily and she is able to settle from a feeling of crisis or panic during these conversations. Yes, we still hang up on each other when things get rough. The difference is we can text soon after that and settle the emotional piece.
I am grateful for all that I have learned over the past 8 years since her BPD was diagnosed - from bpdfamily, therapy, support groups, faith, friends, family. It is an accumulation of using many new tools and skills. I have grown a lot in my own struggles with bipolar disorder in awareness and acceptance.
I have always believed in hope -- as long as there is breath there is hope.

Hello I am a newbie and am thrilled to hear your wonderful news!
The holidays can be the most stressful for family members of BPs so it's amazing to know that there are great things happening out there and that you can be grateful for each challenge and success!
