Feeling overwhelmed; Social Services gave BPD daughter's kids to us to raise

My daughter (BPD) had a stroke 3 yrs ago, since then she has lost control of her BPD and her life.  Social services has stepped in and taken her children and given them to us to raise.  My husband (now retired) and I are now raising a 3 and 5 yr old and our lives have changed from travel and retirement to dealing with life.   Feeling overwhelmed, and don't know where to get support.  Hoping it's here.
 

Our objective is to better understand the struggles our child faces and to learn the skills to improve our relationship and provide a supportive environment and also improve on our own emotional responses, attitudes and effectiveness as a family leaders

Hey Edmonton. You have found a good place here. You are not alone. There are some amazing people with some amazing support on these boards. Please keep posting and please keep reading. I am sorry you are enduring this huge challenge but you are stronger than you know. I totally get how hard it is to love someone with BPD. It is so important to take good care of yourself. Do you have a good therapist for support? Do you have an extended family for help? Can you tell us more details about your situation?

It is here, Edmonton we're here for you, you are not alone.    What is your greatest challenge at this time?

I'm a short, long in my head way off retirement age, no grandchildren. I can understand how this has floored you, it is overwhelming. I also want to share with you there is a community of people and parents (virtual and personally) you'll meet on the way that'll lift you up and help you and your husband take time out and spend this precious time together and yes travel!
