Hey TP... .I am so sorry for this tumult.  There is a lot going on here!  And they must generate a lot of emotional pain for you in many dimensions.  There are a lot of feelings and thoughts for you to sort out.

With the benefit of distance, it seems clear that it would be unwise to insert yourself in her life.  Needless to say, there is not an entry point anyway!

Her self-destructive promiscuity, the suicide threats, risking her career, drugs?, triangulating with your mutual friend... .it is quite a whirlwind.  And, of course, it triggers my "white knight syndrome" as well.  It seems to call out for a savior.  But, it does not work, for her, for your or for anyone.  I would find it very hard to resist that pull.  Fortunately, as Tausk said so clearly, it is helpful to think that staying away from it all is really an act of care and kindness toward her.  These "rescuer"; "white knight" tendencies really need to be examined by those of us who possess them... .meaning me.  In the guise of goodness and kindness, they tend to be neither.

Thinking of you as you go through this... .thank you for sharing this with us.
