[What else matters? I heard someone on the radio saying that 1-4 were the most important things to say to your loved ones. #5 is situationally appropriate in this case.]

I would like to send it, but I'm aware that I would then be on some level anticipating a response, and I guess I'm not to where I can put myself in that position. How sad that I can't even say goodbye.

This seems like a healthy way to detach and therapeutic too! I wouldn't send the letter unless you want to reengage the relationship. Make the letter work for you.
