My ex always had some enemy on her "list," ranging from her best friend, to a doctor she was seeing, to her sister-in-law, to a roommate (everyone except her father, who she adores but described as emotionally distant and very cranky growing up).

I think I was guilty of enabling her by sympathetically listening to her vent about these people (it made me feel like I was her protector, which I know is problematic); as the rltp. worsened, she would complain about others and then I didn't like it so much since I knew in a few days time (maybe even the next morning), I would become the new enemy; anyone experience this dynamic?

Mine had several enemies on his list.  But the list was always changing and I couldn't keep up with who was on or off it.  So I guess he had a good list and a bad list.  I remember him getting very angry one time because I was talking to someone on the enemy list (innocently, at a group outing).  I had no idea the person was on such list as I heard him talking very highly of this person a week or so prior.  And not that it would have mattered as this person had always been nice to me.

Usually whatever the person did to end up on the enemy list was in my eyes a very minor offense, but I never really called him on it because he was so sensitive.  So yeah I was very sympathetic even though I knew it was off.

It's funny because his new/old gf was on the enemy list, (he was with her before me, now he is back with her), he spoke very badly about her to me.  Now aparently we have switched positions.
