I just wanted to write this down so when the going gets tough and I’m back in the thick of all this pain I can remember. I am having a tiny, tiny moment of reprieve. The past week of so I have averaged around 4 hours sleep per night woken by seemingly out of nowhere memories of all the chaos and devaluation. My therapist reassured me that this is symptom of ptsd and that it’s ok as my brain is processing the abuse. I’m not going crazy. So I’ve just been going with it and feeling what I feel whatever comes up. Today for the first time in a long, long time the pain has eased a little. Just a tiny little bit, but it’s a start. Hang in there everyone.

Yes, and when difficult feelings pass through again, your brain now has concrete evidence (which it can access through memory) that your experience is not always going to be that way; deep down your body/mind knows that there is an alternative to suffering.

Yes, normal and I have had nightmares about him as well.  CPTSD is what I have heard it called... .  What heartandwhole said is very true!
