Desperate for help

my daughter is 21 and suffers from BPD. She is extremely suicidal, 10 attempts is the last year with the last 6 in the last few months. She barely recovered from two attempts. She was just released from the hospital two days ago and i feel that its just a matter of time before she succeeds at her suicide attempt. Im desperate to find her a good residential dbt treatment facility because i can't keep her safe anymore.  Can anyone please recommend a facility for her? I have heard of Fulshear transition in Texas and was hopeful but then read some scary reviews? Does anyone have any experience with Fulshear? I appreciate any suggestions. Thank you for any help.

I wanted to welcome you to our family, and let you know we are so sorry for what you and your family are going through at the time.  This particular subject is not in my wheelhouse, I just wanted to respond to let you know someone with some experience in this area will respond to your post sometime soon.  You have found a great place here to share your experiences with others and learn.  There are many who have gone through the trials and tribulations you are experiencing and I think you will find comfort knowing you are not alone.

I can't imagine what you are going through with your daughter.  It has to be overwhelming for you.  What state do you live in, Texas?  Just wondering if you have any limitations on making a choice for a residential treatment facility.  Some people need to work with insurance companies or perhaps within the boundaries of some type of assistance program. 

Do you have a support system to help you through this (family and/or friends)?

I would like to join the others in welcoming you to BPD Family. I am glad you reached out and will, I am sure, find both practical advice and much understanding and support on these boards.

We have a resource that you can view here that we've adapted from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Family Resource Guidebook. I think you will find the information there helpful to you. Please do have a look.

This is a very difficult and frightening time for you. You are looking for solutions and help, which we will be able to give some assistance with. We are also here for you personally and encourage you to keep posting to ensure you get the support you need right now.

There are some materials here on this board that might help you with your choice.

lbjnltx's daughter did RTC at Falconbridge in Utah. Her story is well worth reading.

There is also a lesson/section from the materials in the sidebar on the right where members discuss inpatient/outpatient venues

Have you read Blaise Aguirre's book BPD in Adolescence? I know your daughter is 21, but his book has a section on RTC that may help guide you. He works at McLean's Hospital with Gundersen I believe, another leading expert on BPD.

Hi 'desperate for help'.  Welcome to the BPD site.  I have found it to be an enormous help for those of us who are faced with dealing with BPD in one of our children.  We have a son who began serious problems when he was about 14.  He is now 44 and has escalated to refusing to talk or correspond with us for over a year now. When I found this site, I was so surprised to find so many people who are facing the same heart breaking problems that we are facing.  There really is help in talking with these people and knowing we are not alone.

We live in Texas.  I've never heard of Fulshear but I would be happy to do some searching and send anything I find to you.

Thank you for the replies. The last 4 days have been very difficult trying to find treatment for my daughter. After doing some more research I've decided that the facility in Texas would probably not be the best for her. We live in Canada and finding care that doesn't have 1 year waiting lists is impossible... After her recent attempt they've decided to move to the top of the wait list which means out wait is now 3 months. She doesn't have 3 months. I'm desperate to get her help and she wants help. Ive decided to load some stuff in the truck and we're gonna drive 35 hours to Phoenix and hopefully find some dbt therapy treatment there. If anyone can recommend anything in Phoenix, I greatly appreciate it... I need to get her away from all the triggers and start something in way of help.

The location below, in Phoenix, might be a place to start.  You might try calling the person referenced below and learn more about their facility. They might be able to make some recommendations if they aren't right for your situation.
