This Easter, may we all forgive our partners for the things that drive us crazy. May we accept them for who they are and realize that they are suffering from this disorder too. Lastly, may they paint us all white again. Smiling (click to insert in post)

Happy Easter!

I'd like to propose a slightly different idea. It feels great to be painted white, but also horrible to be painted black. These are the two extremes we tend to swing between.

So my wish for us is this: may we be authentic. Others may see us as painted white or black, but may we feel secure in the fact that we are really somewhere in the middle- people trying to be the best we can be,  but that being human, we are probably going to make some mistakes, have disagreements, not be in the best mood sometimes, but that these times don't negate the good that we are, and the good things we do.

May we be secure that this doesn't change when we are painted white, or when we are painted black, because what someone else decides we are doesn't determine who we are.

My wish is that by knowing who we are, we can withstand the ups and downs of being painted white or black, and show compassion to those who can't help but see things that way.

and show compassion to those who can't help but see things that way.

This part has been huge for me in the last 6 months or so.  It helps me get out of "poor me" thinking and be more objective.

Sure there are times when my wife is unreasonable and a real pain to deal with.  However, I've gotten pretty good at boundaries and protecting myself.  I can get away from it when I need to.

Hard to imagine what it must be like to live in her skin.
