I don't know where I am.  I feel overwhelmed yet detached.  Able to function and seem okay yet paralyzed.  I don't want to move physically.

Breaking point maybe.  This moment, resign.

Does anyone here have experience checking into a hospital?  I'm not suicidal but feel I'm breaking down with nowhere to turn.  I don't feel safe here emotionally on one hand, wonder if I can maybe tolerate and get by.

I don't feel able to change a tire and do all that needs to be done to take teenage kids and wife to a Rennaissance Fair tomorrow.  I don't feel able to go.  I'll feel guilty if we don't.  It'll be held against me if we don't.  I promised, but I just can't.

If I leave for a friend or family member's, same thing.  It won't go well.

There'd be less of that if I went in for a few days, but I feel she's already set things up to blame me and capitalize on it in some way.

I feel stuck, though at the moment I feel more numb and detached and like I just don'r want to move.

In US it’s via ER, for my locality, we use non emergency via sheriff, and they have a mental health crisis line, curtesy transport for voluntary admittance. If need someone to talk to, can generally go 911, doesn’t always result in transport, just for quick evaluation.  Our crisis line has been helpful identifying facilities, empty beds, service, so there isn’t a second transport, voluntary, you might be able to have your choice of facility.

What’s triggering?

Witz_End,

I am so sorry you are experiencing such overwhelming feelings right now. It does sound like you have reached a breaking point and have mentally and emotionally run dry.  Virtual hug (click to insert in post) Virtual hug (click to insert in post) I understand, I have been there.

I have checked myself into a mental health crisis center twice for extreme stress and depression. My city has a local mental health center with a crisis triage. They are an extension of the city's main hospital. Both times I was there for 72 hours, met with a psychiatrist, had group therapy, learned some coping skills, stress management skills, and self-care skills. There was a follow-up treatment plan set in place before discharge.

There is a crisis line you can text in the US if you just need to chat with someone immediately. Text 741741 and a crisis counselor will be available to assist you.

Hey WE-

Please go gently with what you’re feeling right now and take care of yourself.  Perhaps place a call to a close friend or family member and have them drive with you to the hospital.

Disregard changing the tire or whatever may come tomorrow.  That doesn’t matter right now.

You matter.

Warmly,
Gems

Thank you all for your answers.  I may be able to weather the weekend and all are okay with not doing the Renn tomorrow.

Things may be shifting reading the pressure.  If that can hold for the weekend and ai can reach the therapist I had picked for a fast track appointment, it may work.

Thinking of you, WE.

I’m hoping that you’re feeling more rested and emotionally relaxed.  If you feel you need help, then please seek help.  There is no shame in that.

Warmly,
Gems
