VIDEO: "What is parental alienation?" Parental alienation is when a parent allows a child to participate or hear them degrade the other parent. This is not uncommon in divorces and the children often adjust. In severe cases, however, it can be devastating to the child. This video provides a helpful overview.

I can't really recall any time she addressed me by my name. I did point it out a couple of times. She gave no reason, except that she didn't like using peoples names. In hindsight, maybe this was to keep enough emotional distance from me and keep me as an object. She did use my name when talking to other people about me, but not to me. So weird... . 13 years and yet didn't call me by my name once.

I suppose there should be more of a topic here. But what ways were you guys/girls objectified and denied personhood? I know I was told how I should feel throughout the relationship. That was the worst.

if she didn't use your name then how did she address to you ?

I ask it because my BP usually uses a wide range of "sweet names" or if he's angry an abreviate short "girl"

towards his friends or family he would call me "my girl", or "mine"

when he calls me by my name it always sounds a bit unnatural in my ears and in his... .

however I noticed this happens often with couples, not only with pwBPD !

the funny thing is that I am the opposite; I usually call everyone by name, I have difficulties with giving sweet names to adults, I keep those for children or my cats

She used sweet names back when things were good. As did I... . But once things got bad she wouldn't address me at all. She would walk up and talk and ramble and if I didn't feel like talking then she'd act like I was rude or tell me that she expects me to listen. After a while of not being given space, I literally felt like my mind was being molested.
