Daughter has BPD traits

Hello everyone - my daughter is struggling with BPD traits. She completed the Pid5 and it showed her as BPD. Over the weekend we had an episode in the ED and are working with her now to get her to accept treatment and an official diagnosis. 

I didn't know where to start - so here I am.

Our objective is to better understand the struggles our child faces and to learn the skills to improve our relationship and provide a supportive environment and also improve on our own emotional responses, attitudes and effectiveness as a family leaders

Hello and welcome LisaW. I'm so sorry to hear your news, yes it is scary and heart breaking. How old is your daughter? 

I'm new to the forum too, though I have read widely over the last 6 months since my 27 yr old daughter was finally diagnosed following a visit to ED. She has accepted the diagnosis and is motivated to get well (for now). I wish this for you too. It's been tough to get her the treatment she deserves despite the diagnosis, due to long waiting list. We are working together in hope. We are also working independently to care for ourselves as individuals.

That's where I started, I hope this helps you and do let us know how the next few days go.

It sounds like your daughter is rejecting the diagnosis for now. That's tough. What do you think led to her recent episode over the weekend?
