Wendybird... .get out there and do things you like! 68 is no age, not close to end of life. What makes life worthwhile in the most awful of situations is the ability to enjoy the present and hope for the future - and we don't need anyone to take these away from us. And there are actually loads of people and activities out there waiting for us.
My late husband showed me the importance of living with hope, no matter how faint. He concentrated on things he wanted to do and it helped him forget the prognosis and the daily horrors. I learned too, that you have to hope for things for yourself but not for other people.
