Having trouble coping with memories of my childhood.  My mother had BPD and my sister has many of the same traits. Mom has mellowed (she is 78) sis has gotten worse.  I am 49 and have 3 kids.  I have been struggling with depression my whole life but recently I have felt overwhelmed and unable to cope. I hold on for the sake of my kids but some days the weight of the past feels too heavy.

Hi and welcome back Zabava

Dealing with these kinds of negative thoughts and emotions isn't easy. I am very sorry you are feeling this way.

Are you currently getting treatment for your depression?

I can relate to feeling the weight of the past. You mention your sister has gotten worse, in what ways has her behavior gotten worse?

To help you stay in the present, it might help to practice mindfulness/meditation. Is this perhaps something you have practiced?
