Hi i have been in a on/off relationship for nearly five years my partner has BPD, he is in denial he was told so years ago and he says he hasnt but he has all the symptoms,  i love him so much i just dont understand him sometimes,  if i tell him he is gorgeous he says he doesnt like me saying that to him he doesnt like complaments qat all , everytime we have a slight disagreement he blocks me on everything i have told him this really hurts me, we had a argument on Tuesday night he said were finished and yet again blocked me i dont know what to do he has said before that were finished but always gets in touch with me as i said i dont understand and it really hurts any advice would be good thank you

I think that for people with BPD its really easy for them to say get out or I don't wanna be with you, then block the person on everything (in your case) not because they don't care but because it's a way to block out the pain quick and easy.  If an argument starts it's easier to end the relationship than to deal with the pain and work it will take to make things better.  It takes a lot of effort to make relationships work sometimes, and that can be really overwhelming.  I don't know him, but I don't think he's trying to hurt you, I think he's just trying to protect himself but in a kinda unhealthy way which ends up hurting you in the process.  If that makes any sense?

Hi irishblonde75,

I'm sorry things have been on again off again in your relationship. Have you ever had a conversation with him about how you don't like it when he just disappears?
