After trying to have a relationship with my adult daughter, and suffering her verbal attacks, I went to a therapist for depression. After two visits and lots of reading, I believe she may be BPD. I am here to learn and listen.

Hi there and welcome to the board.  I am glad you found us though I am sorry for the circumstances that brought you here.  You have landed in a place where people can understand and relate to finding out your child likely has BPD, dealing with that and also with the affects on you as an individual and as a mom.

Are you still in therapy for depression?  I only ask because some people find it helpful in terms of getting support.  It is not easy having a family member with BPD and the more support you have the better it is.  That's one of the reasons this board is so helpful.

I don't know how much you have looked around on the board.  Over on the right side of the page there is a list of topics, including tools and lessons that you may find helpful to read.  What can be even more important though is self-care.

As you settle in here, I hope you share more of your situation, read posts and perhaps post to others.   You are not alone.

Hello Heavensvillemom

I would like to join Harri in welcoming you here, as she says you are definitely in the right place to get lots of help and support. You say that you are here to learn and listen, that’s brilliant, you obviously love your daughter very much and want so much to improve your relationship with her.

I’m sorry to hear that you are suffering with depression, my heart goes out to you, trying to deal with someone who has BPD can be utterly exhausting. I too suffered when everything I had been through with my uBPD son finally took it’s toll. Thanks to therapy and the support I’ve received whilst being on this forum, I am in a much better place than when I first arrived here.

May I just ask how old is your daughter? Is she living with you?

Look forward to hearing more from you x
