Hi It has been awhile since I posted. I want to share something that has been a turning point for me. I was driving and the guy in back of me was beeping his horn wildly. Instead of getting upset I focused on driving . Eventually he stopped. I was surprised how calm and focused I was. Similarly now when my mom screams and is nasty I focus on what I have to do. I no longer respond to her or let it bother me. Surprisingly when I don't respond she stops and we both move on. It is like I am in my little world and she can't hurt me any more. I know who I am and I know my life's mission. I know my boundaries and I don't really have to answer to anyone but my higher power which in y case is God. I am really finally free. I use this technique with other folks also. I no longer get into arguments with folks. I don't need to prove myself to anyone .

Pam Letgo,
This is awesome! You've freed yourself from feeling the effects of other's outbursts! Wonderful! As you see, learning to do this is helping you in a multitude of ways!

Hi Pam Letgo.
This is excellent. You have found out that feeding your moms anger with any response at all only reinforces her behavior. Staying out of the drama and remaining calm within yourself is excellent!
Are you able to apply this in other ways as well?

Those who feel that need often have conflict follow them... .like my uBPDx who thinks it's weak not to rise to every challenge. She used to road rage, and would tell me she'd take a roundabout way home because someone she flipped off would follow her. Fighting isn't often winning, if at all.
