Making room for new friends

I have not been able to enjoy parenting very much. We have had crisis after crisis. We both have issues. As effective as we are getting things done and excelling, we suffer a lot.

Both of us were well regarded until we had a catastrophic accident. I nearly died, and I am not who I was (brain injury). We have terminated or chased away nearly all of our friends.

Reflecting on the friend losses, I realize that the friends who have exited are largely stuck in their narrative. The new friends are more interesting.

I spend most of my waking hours justifying my pain. I longed for someone to share with, but most women have too many responsibilities and men who don’t get what they hoped for get angry.  I know better than to say someday it will be different.

Our objective is to better understand the struggles our child faces and to learn the skills to improve our relationship and provide a supportive environment and also improve on our own emotional responses, attitudes and effectiveness as a family leaders
