One thing that has helped me a lot, particularly regarding being gentle with myself, but also regarding validating myself, has been the resources at this website:
www.self-compassion.org/. A strange thing that I have noticed is that being gentle and kind with myself, along with other types of self-soothing and self-compassion, does a lot of self-validation! It has some great guided meditations that have helped me a lot, and a lot of other stuff that has been extremely useful! I heartily recommend this page for anybody who is going through difficult times (all of us on bpdfamily.com?) and is having a difficult time with self-soothing / self-compassion. If you are new to self-soothing / self-compassion, I recommend the guided meditations and the exercises!
