I still scratch my head at a lot of the things my stbex said - but then when I point them out latter she will completely dey she said them.  Here are a few examples.

1. I haven't loved you or respected you for years - I love you with my whole heart

2. I wish I could just melt in the ground a dissappear - I would never consider hurting myself

3. It takes all my energy just to get through the day

4. I don't know who I am - I've always known who I am

5. I've always been the person you want me to be

6. I am just a shell of a person

7. I can't find God - I have such a deep connection with God now

8.  Your my best friend - now I have true friends

9. We are just friends (her and her EA)

10. I shut my heart out to you - for this reason, a day latter a different reason, a day latter a different one yet.

11. I hate you - I don't really hate you

12. I thought we were soulmates - I know you'll find your soulmate

13. I'm sad, broke, lonely and homeless.  next day I'm getting along great

14. I'm sorry for my texts yesterday - next day don't call or text me ever - or I'll contact the attorney.

15. I put a mountian between us - you never gave me time to love you again

16. You know the best how my mind works - I don't have any issues

17 This doesn't have anything to do with my past - I think this has to do with my past.

Sounds about right.  Emotional memory is very short term, like that movie 50 First Dates.  How they feel right now is how they always felt.  I can get annoyed with my teen but I will never forget how I felt when she was born, or forget how much I love her.  It's scary to think about experiencing emotions getting wiped out regarding the past, say with a car accident injury or something.

Yup.

Same thing here. Almost exactly:

I'm a happy, balanced person: I have the emotional status of a teenager

I am doing so great: I am the most miserable I have ever been

I love my job: I hate my job

I love you: You are a jerk

And on and on and on.

That emotional memmory is soo confusing to me - when we were splitting she told me she couldn't remember any happy memories this last year.  I gave her a ton of examples and she said oh yea I forgot about all of those things ... .
