I started a divorce and broke the news to my wife earlier this week. It took me a very long time to get to this point and my recent understanding of BPD has been a great help. That plus therapy gave me the ability to give my self "permision" to leave her.

She has reacted almost 100% in line with the things explained in the great articles "Leaving a Partner with Boarderline Personality" and "Surviving a Break-up with Someone Suffering BPD".

We live in different countries at the present so that makes things a bit easier on my end. I have recieved well over 100 calls, dozens of text, email and voice messages and expect more. The content of the messages is exactly as anticpated by the BPD experts - declarations of love, overtones of guilt, shame, chastizing me for not giving us the opportunity to fix things, etc.

I am doing the best I can trying to keep up "no contact", but it is rough.

I know I am in for a very rough time. Having a child makes it even worse as it is not fair to cut the child off as well.

I guess I just needed to vent and share the expereince.

Welcome to bpdfamily.com TIG,

Sounds like it's been a long road to getting to the place where you could make a decision.  How are you doing?

You mentioned being in different countries how's that going?  How is your divorce proceeding along?  And your child?
