VIDEO: "What is parental alienation?" Parental alienation is when a parent allows a child to participate or hear them degrade the other parent. This is not uncommon in divorces and the children often adjust. In severe cases, however, it can be devastating to the child. This video provides a helpful overview.

It was my BPD ex's birthday yesterday. His first bday in four years that we haven't been together. Of course, I didn't contact him to wish him a happy bday, since he dumped me this summer four days before my own bday. The fourth time I got coldly and cruelly dumped by him in two years.

Out of curiousity, I looked at his Facebook tonight and all of his posts have always been set to private. Well, tonight he posted a PUBLIC post in ALL CAPS thanking everyone for their bday wishes and telling them he LOVES THEM ALL! I especially love the all caps. It makes it easier to type when you're drunk, you know.

Lol! I appreciate his public post for my benefit. It's nice to know that my not wishing him a happy bday upset him and he needed to let me know how many other people care about him.

Ugh, so pathetic. He's still trying to hurt/one up me, after four years together of him hurting me over and over. I guess it's progress that I laughed out loud when I read his post.

And now, back to not looking at his Facebook! I imagine by this time next year, I will have forgotten when his bday is. A girl can hope!

Birthdays are a tough time for someone with BPD.  It’s possible it was not directed towards you personally but rather all FB friends as a declaration of wanting acceptance, likes, comments to appear popular because he doesn't feel that way.
