Positive Things About Ourselves
«
on:
October 30, 2013, 03:04:38 PM »
I feel that it's easy to blame ourselves for the demise of our relationships... to criticize ourselves harshly.
To counteract that, I think we should have a designated thread to
write at least one positive thing about ourselves.
Everyone here wants to feel better and I think that positive self-talk is one tool that we can use to achieve this goal. I can be hard on myself too at times so I'm definitely including myself in all of this.
OK-I will start:
I like the fact that I'm articulate.
Now it's your turn...

Great topic idea! I'm not going to add to your comments since they sum it all up.
I'm resilient and positive and I'm not going to let the failed BPD relationship define me anymore.

I am very supportive of my family, friends and past boyfriends! I write long but very loving and emotional cards for birthdays, holidays, special events etc, to make sure the people I care about know what they mean to me!
I love music, it's very important to me, I love to sing and I'm pretty good at it! : )
I love animals, especially dogs and have been enjoying volunteering at an animal shelter for over 3 years. I love spending time with the dogs, working on training and socializing so they'll be more adoptable. However, just hanging out or walking with them or when the dogs fall asleep in the back seat of my car after adoption days (long day, tired out) is the best... .they make me happy!
I'm creative, I used to direct a television show at a community television station and I also operated the cameras. Loved the people at the station, and the interesting people and topics that were discussed! Was also able to use the editing room and skills I learned at the station to create adoption videos for some of the dogs.
I think I'm a pretty cool person, that is looking forward to sharing it with someone who is healthy and won't hurt me because he is hurt! It will be nice to be with someone that can love me back!

Because there is no one else... .
Like me.
As there is... .
No one else... .
Like you.
They lost us.
The most... .
Supportive... .
Loving... .
Understanding... .
Nicest... .
Caring... .
Attentive... .
Patient... .
People on this f¥cking planet.
That... .
Is what they lost.

Haha! This is tough...
I'm easygoing, smart and I have a good (but weird) sense of humor, and thanks to becoming a post BPD workout freak I am in excellent health and have the body of someone half my age.
PS Findingmysong, volunteering with animals is my passion too I love what you wrote.

Bananas,
Thanks, yea it's been very rewarding to help the dogs, I like to remember the dogs I got to spend time with before they got adopted! I'm also looking forward to when I have the money, space etc to have my own dog... .probably a Pitbull since I worked with so many over the years and I love em!

I am loving. I am kind. I have a heart to give and serve and love beyond what is asked for or required.
I am good. I look for the good in others. I forgive... .but I can't forget. I love BIG... .bigger than words or time or fleeting emotions. I am solid... .except for loving myself (and I'm fixing that right now).
Love yourselves, friends.

I am funny, I have the ability to make people laugh to the point of tears.
I am empathetic, if someone needs a friend I am there.
I am kind. I would give you my last bit of money if you needed it more than myself.
My love is unconditional... .having four children has made me this way. They are my heart and my soul.
There are a million and one good things about me

My brother said something recently... .he goes 'you know, you're struggling with this but you do a lot that's hard for other people to get a grip on like eating the way you do... .that's something to be proud of - I can't do it the same - and you've come so far with this new job n getting over being sick... ."
It was so nice to have that little pep talk from my brother. I eat pretty much all organic whole foods n take it for granted but saying it the way he did made me add it to my list of positives about myself.
I'd also say I'm feeling a sense that my ability to bounce back n be positive despite adversity is showing me I have resilience. Yay.

This thread put the biggest smile on my face
I am funny, smart, handsome, creative, energetic, active, athletic, a good friend, a great father, a good cook, an excellent musician... .and apparently less of a selfish, egotistical, a-hole than I've been told (for the past two years!) because I feel very weird typing this about myself!
I love reading everyone's positive things - it's amazing how much we all have in common

Isn't it? Then you realize we've all loved or still love some people who can be very difficult, and who are suffering from an illness that makes maintaining a steady, loving relationship with them very challenging.
Of course we're special.
