The Greatest Love is the Love You Give Yourself

Read this on Facebook this morning. I think it resonates with all of us on here. Let me know your thoughts Smiling (click to insert in post)

"Never get jealous when you see your ex with someone else,

Because our parents taught us to give our used toys to the "less fortunate".

Perfect timing!

Just saw a photo of them accidentally about half an hour ago so I've had a good chuckle at your comment.

Part of me does hope he's finally happy and I have no negative feelings about her (just worry about her) but he moved on so quickly that sometimes it's difficult not to feel instantly replaceable!  This comment has me back on track and I do feel the more fortunate one because I am off the rollercoaster.

thanks

Claire,

It's good when you get to the point you can feel happy for them.

I don't hate my ex. I am dissapointed we didn't work out and I blame myself because this was a new experience for me (lesbian relationship) but as I meet others I see there was something not right. She knew she had anger issues as well as "frontal lobe issues" she told me was ADD. There was more to it.

I feel bad I couldn't save her and make her feel better. I shut down and grew cold. I resented being her caregiver. I wanted a lover not to have to care to her endless emotions. I put my life aside for this.

It wasn't fair to me or her.

But with no closure, beating ones self up does them no good. I am in a healthy relationship now and I am grateful. I truly believe things will get better.

Hey Pretty Woman,

This is kind unrelated to your post but I wanted to share something about closure with you that I realized after my break up.  I used to want closure, that one conversation with that special person to make sense of everything.

If you think about it, you are expecting the person you are allowing to hurt you to make you feel better.  Most of the time people are less than truthful or give you half of the story.  Closure should be that someone has ended the relationship.  This may have come a little late because it sounds like you are moving forward but thought I would share.  Be well!

Here's another one, "Hey, remember that person you thought you couldn't live without? Well, look at you, living and s**t."
