I have a young adult with Bpd and I am looking for ideas and support dealing with her. She's so bright but her moods are so unpredictable. I try not get my feelings hurt when she lashes out but, it's difficult. Anyone have any suggestions?

 Hello  Welcome

Are you the young person's parent?

If so there is a lot of support and information on Parenting a son or daughter suffering from BPD board

to the right hand side of that board there are links to short articles on improving communication and coping with our own hurt feelings and there is also a lot of support available if you would like to post about any particular difficulties.

If you fell ready to post again about your relationship to the young person and the things that are most concerning you we will try to direct you to the most useful information.

Look forward to hearing from you-this a great site and very supportive.

Hello Rlsmith2. I'll join lever in saying:  Welcome

You've certainly come to the right place to learn more about BPD. We have great tools, articles and lessons here, along with great senior members.

Let us know more about the young adult you mentioned and we will do our best to support you in learning more.

Thank you for caring! I am learning so much as I navigate this website. I finally feel that I am not alone in this journey.  I am in need of suggestions as I try to be a supportive parent.

Rismith2

I want to also welcome you to this site. I am glad you are reading the articles here they have been very helpful to me. I also wanted to recommend getting a book by Valerie Porr called Overcoming BPD. It really is good book and has helped me greatly.

Can you tell us more details about what struggles your child is having?

My D struggles with depression, OCD and BPD. Lately it's the BPD that I've been noticing the most. She wants her independence but, struggles when I let her have it. If she's in a mood she'll have very little to say to me or is kind of mean. I want to know if she's taking her Meds and going to her T appointments. How do I this without causing a rage? How do I let be independent but, support her too. I have 2 younger kids and she has a twin B so, I am pretty busy dividing up the attention, oh did I mention I am single mom.
