Before you can make things better, you have to stop making them worse... Have you considered that being critical, judgmental, or invalidating toward the other parent, no matter what she or he just did will only make matters worse? Someone has to be do something. This means finding the motivation to stop making things worse, learning how to interrupt your own negative responses, body language, facial expressions, voice tone, and learning how to inhibit your urges to do things that you later realize are contributing to the tensions.

Hey BPD Family. I am 2 months out of a BPD relationship, fiancée broke engagement with no warning, immediately moved across country to her ex of seven years ago, moved right in with him. Had a little time and money saved up, so am in London for the week. Nothing clears your head like being somewhere new, adventuring, meeting new people. The second part is, apparently I am missed. Been getting very flirty Facebook messages from several women friends basically inviting a date when I get home. So if you can, go somewhere new, do it for yourself, and get away from the old shell. It has been helping tremendously so far.

Totally agree. I went scuba diving for two weeks. Had always wanted to do it and the new experience plus different enviroment was so theraputic. No familiar triggers around and being able to do something that I wouldnt have been able to do with my ex around was so relaxing.

I too totally agree.

A couple of years ago after horrific recycle I started traveling to Mexico... .not too far from me... .and had a blast.

It helped me almost get to a point where I was close to being my former self again.    If I hadn't had subsequent recycles I would probably be fine now.

As soon as I am financially and emotionally ready to travel I plan to hit the road.
