Hello everyone! Last night, my daughter said that she is ready to try DBT. Meds and individual therapy have stabilized her mostly, but it's time to take the next step.

The closest mental health center that offers DBT is over an hour away, and with our work schedules, that is not feasible at this time. I know that there are online DBT sessions/courses, but I don't want to sign her up until I know which one is best. That's why I'm asking you, because ya'll are much more knowledgeable than I am on this stuff!  Smiling (click to insert in post)

What are your recommendations?

Hi verooca66,

I recommend checking out the site DBT Self Help. It's a service for people who are seeking information about Dialectal Behavior Therapy. A unique aspect of the site is that it was written primarily by people who have been through DBT themselves and not by DBT professionals. I personally have found the information and resources on DBT Self Help very insightful.

It's a very encouraging development that your daughter says she is ready to try DBT. This form of therapy has been proven to be effective for many people with BPD (traits) and I hope your daughter will benefit from it too.

There are also online coaches for a more guided approach.

Some do phone contact along with the online coaching.

I can't recommend any of them as I have not used their services.

I have followed DbtPath with Debbie Corso and read both of her books. She offers dbt classes online. I have not taken any of the classes but I have learned much thru her books.
