I feel helpless

I am devastated.  I have always known my daughter has had some serious issues but recently so much more has come to light.  My daughter took off when she was 18 with a guy with his own issues, she had a baby and the relationship between her and the baby's father was very violent.  After the father was jailed for beating her she came to live with us.  She had been here for almost 2 years when she met another really bad guy.  She took off and left her child.  I found out she stole from my business and she was arrested.  When she got out of jail she took the baby.  She is living in 600 sf house with the boyfriend whom she has only known for 2 months, his grandma and the baby.  They are living in the attic of the house with the baby.  While gathering information to try to get the baby back it came out that my daughter had been molesting her little sister.  I knew that she had molested a neighbor girl when she was younger, but I didn't know about her sister!  She molested her sister for years and I had no idea!  I feel so awful!  I found out that my daughter is very suicidal!  I did not know that either!  How could I not see this.

Yesterday we were able to talk her into letting us take the baby for the day, he told us that she hits him and bites him.  She didn't want to go back with her!  He cried so hard when he had to go back with her!  I found out that the babies father just had visitation for the first time in 2 years.  The baby did the same thing with him, he cried and said he didn't want to go back with her!  I am so afraid for the baby I can't sleep.  I feel like I'm in a nightmare!

Our objective is to better understand the struggles our child faces and to learn the skills to improve our relationship and provide a supportive environment and also improve on our own emotional responses, attitudes and effectiveness as a family leaders

I'm so glad that you are here telling your story about your daughter and grandchild.  I'm so sorry to learn the difficult road you have been traveling with your family.  It' heartbreaking to be filled with worry and concern for an innocent little child and feel like there's nothing you can do to immediately protect them.

You say that you are in the process of getting custody of the little one, is that right?  How old is the baby... .3?

The baby is telling you that mom is the one hurting him?  Have you reported this to CPS yet?  I assume with her criminal history of theft, abuse, and imprisonment that there is a CPS file for your grandchild already.  Is that correct?
