[Typically when I explain the results of my MRI to folks my answer is more clinical: I have a moderate severity of spinal stenosis, bulged disc from c6-c8 which is the reason for my numbness in my hands and neck pain. I do not require surgery because my nerve conduction results show that it is not impairing my ability to walk or such, short of another accident that may move this, I expect it to remain the same. There are things I can to to have a positive or negative affect... . Etc. ok, I really really condense this to bulge causes xyz.
Not: They said the bulge is like someone who is in so much daily pain that they would never want to get off the sofa if they had the same, that it is amazing I even do the dishes.]
She likely is seeking validation that what she is experiencing is real, and wants to feel it is not simply a fabrication or of her own doing but of some biological/neurological doing to her.
She may want to posture as a victim, with her results.
She may want sympathy or other emotional "needs."
It is likely that they may have used an example of a 911 survivors brain EEG as an example to her and she drew parallels and felt "normalized" by this and is trying to feel "normal."
I am making all of this up of course. I do not know what she is thinking.
In any event... .
What are your hopes and expectations of this treatment?
Will you have opportunity to meet with any members of her medical team to discuss any of this with directly?
