I need some advice on helping my daughter with BPD. She has completed DBT group therapy course and that helped, however her sadness and hopelessness is so hard to watch. I'm having a hard time finding help for her. I would love input

Hi logo,
Welcome to the family! We are glad to have you joining us looking for advice and support.
It's great that your d30 completed her DBT course, do you notice her using the skills she learned? Is she living in your home? It really is a great support to our kids/adult kids to have be able to practice the skills alongside someone. It serves to remind them of the affectiveness of the skills, remind them to use the skills, and we, as well as our relationship with our kids benefit too.
Major depression often accompanies BPD. Does your d30 see a psychiatrist as part of her therapeutic plan? Does your d30 take an antidepressant to help with the hopelessness and sadness? Sometimes leveling the field out a bit can really give our kids a chance to use the skills they have and build on small successes for a more positive outlook in life.
What activities does your d30 engage in to help lift her spirits and build her self esteem? My d19 works out, does volunteer work at times, and eats healthy. She suffers from fibromyalgia, MDD and anxiety (at times). She takes an antidepressant daily alongside her Lyrica and gabapentin. This combo seems to work well for her. What experience has your d30 had with medications and exercise/diet in the past?
