I am seeking support as I have a 17 year old daughter who is very bright and does well in some ways but is very emotionally immature and alternately dismissive of us (her parents) or raging and confrontation. It is exhausting. We thought things were better, but we both feel deflated and sad by a backslide we see.

A BPD diagnosis isn't typically made for a minor,  but has she been diagnosed with anything else,  or been in counseling? How long have you been struggling with her?

What situations or boundaries seem to trigger her the most?

Hi Namaste1,

Welcome

I'm sorry to hear that. I would like to join Turkish and welcome you. Turkish is right that often adolescents have polarized thinking or black and white thinking and don't see the grey nuances in life.

It is exhausting.

How is your support network?  Are you getting help with D17? Are you getting time for yourself for self care?

What does it mean to take care of yourself?
