After 49 years of hell with my mother I took a stand and confronted her for her unacceptable behavior. Since I don't ever get any opportunity to really express myself in person I sent her a well-thought-out letter. As you can imagine it was not well received. The response was a deranged manifesto revealing her true thoughts and feelings  about me and my  Children  that were even more disgusting than I imagined. There is no recognition on her part that she has any sort of problem Or that she could benefit from therapy. I am ready to move on entirely from a relationship with her. I just don't see that there's anyway forward. Now that my children are teenagers she has started to drag them into this tragic cycle. I have to stop the madness

Djatamps,

Welcome

I'm so sorry to hear about your relationship breakdown with your mother. That must have felt awful for you to read her reply to your letter.   I can fully understand your not wanting your children to be dragged into this pain. I'm sorry that you've had to go through that for 49 years.

You've found a great place for support. The members here have had similar experiences and understand. The site also has tons of tools and resources that can make things better for you and your children. There is hope—you are not alone.

How are your children coping with this development? Do they know about your intentions/the letter?

What kind of support system do you have around you?

Keep writing, it really helps. We're here to support you.

Hi Djatamps,

Welcome

I'd like to join heartandwhole and welcome you to  bpdfamily, I can see how that would feel scary sticking up to your mom. I'd like to echo heartandwhole, many of us can relate with you, you'll see that you'll fit right in, it helps to share your experience with others so that you don't feel like you're going through this alone. Hang in there.
