Hi everyone, has anyone heard of EMDR Therapy? And does it help someone with BPD? My daughter 27 started it and I was looking for some first hand knowledge, thank you.

Hi penny52,
Just thought I would give you some hope! My D20 dx BPD & maybe BP has gone from classic BPD raging, self medicating w/drugs, drinking, problems with the law etc etc a year ago to after 6 1/2months of EMDR to maintaining her moods, haven't heard her scream or yell or be disrespectful (NO drugs/drink 10 months) in probably 4months! I'm not saying it's the cure all but she was physically/emotionally abused daily by ex BF(who is in prison for the next 4 1/2yrs for his actions) so T said PTSD, lets try EMDR. She hasn't mentioned ex BF, drugs, still talks about drinking from time to time which they're are still working on, but I THANK GOD for EMDR in her case complete 360!
IMO definitly worth trying if T is experienced in EMDR. Hope this helps.

Hi there penny52
I'd be grateful if you could let me know how your daughter gets on?
I heard about this therapy last year and it's success with ptsd.
Thanks
