Emotionally exhausted

Hi,
My screen name is Ashley. I am 45 year old woman, married, with 2 amazing kids, and still live in fear of my parents constant anger and emotional threats. My mom is a raging borderline and my father spends his life desperately trying to make her happy(which of course is an impossible feat) and is furious when I don't drop my life for her. I have been in therapy half my live which has saved me, and helped me live a pretty happy life, but still find myself jumping through hoops to avoid being a"bad, selfish daughter". I am so tired of sacrificing myself because nothing I do is ever ever enough... they always expect more.yet I am afraid to cut them off. They are both angry and unhappy people... constantly feeling like victims, and completely unaware of the pain they create... I am hoping to get strength from some of your stories... thank you...

Hi Ashly,
I’m so sorry you’re emotional exhausted, many if not most on here will know how that feels. A BPD is unrelenting, so it’s inevitable we will become exhausted, unless we have a good defence system.
You also mentioned the value of sharing stories, which i know has helped me, do you have any stories currently you want to share, mull over ? It’s a great way of getting value back out of the forum. I would be interested to know what things you are doing to help with your emotional exhaustion. I know when I was exhausted, it made everything ten times harder to achieve. It was like climbing out of a greasy bath, so if we can help get your momentum up, to help you out of that greasy bath, feel free to ask questions and post events that frustrate you, and welcome to the forum.
