Hi,
I have a 27 year old daughter who is diagnosed with BPD, depression and anxiety. She has been self harming by cutting since she was 12. She abuses alcohol by binge drinking quite often and this makes her violent and abusive and generally ups the self harm to threats of suicide. She rarely threatens suicide when sober but does say she feels suicidal (slight difference) when depressed.

Hi Herb and welcome to bpdfamily

I'm sorry for what brought you here but I'm glad you're with us for support and learning, many members are dealing with what you are with your daughter, you are not alone.

Does your daughter accept her diagnosis, does she live at home?  My daughter was in crisis 2 years ago in very similar circumstances to those you describe, it was the binge drinking that brought it to a head, hospitalisations.  It's a very painful place to be, however things can get better and that's what my 29DD needed to hear.

Do you have a friend or family member you can talk too?  Posting and replying to members here really helps us feel less alone.

I'm glad you found us.
