I am divorced from an ex spouse who was narcissistic and I believe my adult son has some similar characteristics.   He has not spoken to me in over a year. I asked him why he always commits to things he can never do.  Yikes!  Didn't realize what a land mine that comment would turn out to be. Over the past year I've had lots of time to reflect on previous comments son has made and how he has handled different situations.  I think I've come to the realization that underlying reason for his behavior is narcissism.   I would like to salvage relationship for the sake of my grandchildren but not know if that will be possible.

Hi Sadlee

Welcome to the forum!  Sorry to hear about the lack of contact, I definitely get the land mine surprise!  How old are your son and grandchildren?  Do you have a way to send contact to him that he can see, to try to reestablish a relationship?
