Wanting do be caring and encouraging to my child, who is an adult and atheist the same time understanding my own feelings. Does it ever get better?

Welcome to bpdfamily    I'm glad you found us for support. Like you we care and do our best for our children, you are not alone in what you are dealing. 

Is your child living with you, have they received a diagnosis, what are their, your challenges at this time?

Does it get better? It certainly has for me, educating myself about BPD has been a significant part of that with the great support and understanding of parents here.
