Hi... .

My daughter is 15.  She needs long term care (12 months or more).  Every Long term care facility seems to have a wait list, stays at RTC's are too short, therapeutic boarding schools (including Teen Challenge programs) are asking $7-10 thousand dollars just to get started, and the acute care facility she is currently in won't keep her any longer.  We don't feel safe with her in our home with us and our other children.  We have tried calling CPS but they told us she would just end up sleeping in their office because they can't do anything to place her either.

I have called so many places... .  Does anyone have a nugget of wisdom for me?  I am not really interested in answering questions about or defending why or how we have come to the decision that she needs long term care.  I just need help from anyone who might have expertise or has been through this.

Thanks... .

Hi SM1984,

Welcome

Welcome to the community. I'm sorry to hear about the difficulty you are having getting good care for your daughter. That can be exhausting and frustrating.    I think the general public needs more awareness of BPD, so that more services will be offered. Mental health care is such an important need in society.

You've found a great place for support here. Although I don't have specific experiences to share, you'll find members who understand what you are going through. You are not alone in this struggle.

Do you have supportive friends and family around you, SM1984? How have you been coping with the challenge of finding care?

Keep posting. We're here for you.
