Hi all,
Are there any affordable inpatient facilities for adults with BPD? Or at least somewhat affordable? I just started looking for one for my 28 y/o daughter and it looks like it's very expensive $$$$!
We reside in CA, SF bay area, but opened to other destinations. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

We just researched this for our DD19. Affordable is a subjective term.
We were lucky and found one that we could "afford" (take a 401k loan, hit up the parents, in-laws, and use the college fund).
She's entering her third month now and is about 1/2 way done, according to her case manager.
We saw them as high as $35,000.00 per month, and as low as $10,000.00 per month.
I assume you've tried insurance?

Thank you for response JustYouWait! Do you mind sharing which facility you chose and why? Do you see any progress with your daughter?
No, we haven't tried insurance. She has MediCal which doesn't cover much.

We found one in CT that dealt specifically with women 18-23, and the main treatment there is BPD. Before our daughter went in there, she was diagnosed with a host of other disorders (Bipolar 2, ADD, General Anxiety Disorder, PTSD, and General Oppositional Disorder), but never had been "tagged" with BPD.
We were pretty sure she had it, and if she didn't, the place was well-reviewed and she would still get help. If she did have it (and she was diagnosed there), it was the exact place for her.
I'll be happy to tell you the name offline, but I'd rather keep where she is personal for the moment.
PM me?
As for progress, the answer is a resounding yes. She's not "well" yet, still has suicidal ideation/self harm feelings, but is now able to express her feelings without acting on them. No self-harm for a few weeks (which for her, is a long time).
