DD with traits of BPD

Hi. I'm a mom of a young adult daughter with traits of BPD. She is in DBT therapy (a few months) and my husband and I go to family group once a week. It's only for an hour and we are learning so much. I knew prior that she probably had it, knew what she needed but had resistance, obviously, at first. Had to have her want the help. Anyhow, have been on this site so much (so helpful and informative) and felt it was time to join, as once a week for an hour "group" goes by fast
So here I am

Hi there! I am new to this support group too. This last year has been pretty brutal for my family and DD. She has had several hospitalizations, arrests and ended the year spending Christmas in jail. Joining is an attempt for me to connect with others who simply know. Like
really
know. I am so glad you made the decision to join us and hope that we are all encouraged by one another.
Be well

Good morning from the East Coast, sparklyone (and a hearty hello to you as well, momma).
As is said around here: I'm sorry you had to find us, but I'm glad you found us.
sparlkyone, here's what I got for you: you are not alone. We get it. Collectively, we've seen it all (most), done it all, felt it all, and/or thought it all. Feel free to come here and scream, laugh, cry, vent, or do nothing and just be.
As momma said, we "like
really
know", and we're here for you.
If you see something in someone else's thread that you like, tell them.
If you see something in someone else's thread that you don't like, tell them.
If you see something in someone else's thread that you don't understand, ask them.
(you see where I'm going with this?)
Post as much as you're comfortable with. Or as little. We're here.
Welcome.

Well said, justyouwait!
So glad to see this community coming together more. I know BPD sufferers feel a lot of shame and embarrassment, and sometimes parents do too! This is indeed a safe place to admit mistakes and feelings and then try to figure out what is the right thing to do!
