Hello there, Myc.

You have certainly come to the right place to learn more on how you can support your child as he/she starts DBT.  To the right Bullet: important point (click to insert in post) is a wealth of information and links to more.  On top of that you can glean from others' stories what has worked for them... .maybe give you an idea of what might work for you.

So good to read that your child is starting DBT.  As he/she is 200 miles away from you, this step must have been taken by him/her... .a good start!

When you are feeling comfortable enough, perhaps you can share more about your story... .your journey with your child.

Until then, once again... .welcome.

There is a lot of information here for you to discover, and lots of members who will understand much of what you have gone through. Here is a link with some information that may be helpful to you:

Treatment of BPD

Is there anyone from the facility offering you guidance so far on what to expect with your adult child?

Huat and Wools, thank you so much for the kind welcome. This board has so many wonderful tools and valuable information. I'm so glad I found it.

Yes, my daughter took this step on her own. I'm so proud of her. I'll share more with time.

The program she entered is very supportive of parents and loved ones and does offer guidance. I am just wanting to learn as much as I can about how to best support her while not enabling her.

Thank you again!

Hi myc

I'd like to join Huat and Wools and welcome you to the community. That's wonderful your daughter has signed herself up for DBT  Doing the right thing (click to insert in post) and I can understand how proud of her you are, my 29DD signed herself up and completed 14 months DBT last September, she's doing very well. I'll be interested to hear what kind of support/engagement you are provided with, my 29DD being an adult there was no support/engagement with family apart from a carers assessment that they are legally obliged to carryout here in the UK.

I look forward to reading your posts, we are here with you.  Smiling (click to insert in post)
