I am trying to help a client I have with symptoms of Borderline. In the book Stop Walking on Eggshells it discusses two tools

They are "mirroring and ""sponging""  Another one is DEAR  :)escribe, Express, Assert and Reinforce.

Does anyone know what these mean as I can't find them discussed in the book.

Thanks

I think you mean DEARMAN which can be found here: https://bpdfamily.com/message_board/index.php?topic=160566.0

About mirroring, that is a behavior pwBPD (people with BPD) engage in.  I wonder if you are looking for SET (sympathy, empathy, truth) which can be found here: https://bpdfamily.com/message_board/index.php?topic=143695.0;all

Can I ask what kind of work you are doing with this person?

Kerin, have you looked at this video:
https://bpdfamily.com/content/ending-conflict

This is along the lines of Marsha Linehan's DEARMAN. It was a precursor developed by Jerold Kreissman, MD.
