Daughter in law, No Contact With My Grandchildren

I feel fairly certain that my daughter in law has BPD. My son is still with her, and for the last two years she has not permitted me to contact any of my grandchildren. My son and I have stayed in contact, but recently she has got on his Facebook account and blocked me. She may have also blocked my number on his phone. I am doing what I can to stay in contact with him, but I also realize that he may feel emotionally trapped between his wife and me.

What leads you to believe your daughter in law has BPD? What are the BPD traits you see in her?

You say she has not permitted you to have contact with your grandchildren for the last two years. You do still have contact with your son though, does he also not permit you to have contact with your grandchildren?

Jodie77 - I believe we have the same situation, except that my son won't/can't speak to me.  I haven't seen my granddaughter since she was 7 months old - she is now 2 1/2.  We are blocked from everything, so haven't even seen a picture.

Hi Jodie77!

I, just like Shadow144, am in a similar situation with my grandkids.  I am not in the situation where I have no contact with them; however, my son's uBPD fiancee is pretty unpredictable and I feel I don't know if this will ever happen.  I think since we are still a benefit to her and my son because we babysit for them two days a week, at no charge of course, they will continue to let us see them.  If the boat ever gets rocked too hard though, I don't know.  I live in fear of that happening one day and I don't know how I would cope with it all. 

This has to be very difficult for you as well and I am so sorry you are in this situation.  Please know, I will follow your posts to see how things are coming along and just simply how you are doing.  I'm not brand new on here, but certainly have many issues to work out.  Maybe we can help each other work issues out as we go along!
