Hi there,
my son, who displays all 9 symptoms of BPD, has been going through intense relationship issues (due to his behaviors). It has been 2.5 months now. His now ex-gf has retreated more and more and does not understand what caused him to act the way he did during their 2 year relationship.

I am an overly engaged mother hen (he is 22 now and appears totally dependent on my assistance), I am also a disabled veteran with chronic migraines, and I am at the end of my wits.

He finally agree to do an intake for treatment, but keeps texting me about his pain over the break-up.
I do not know how much longer I can take all this

Hello PinkWarrior6695  Welcome new member (click to insert in post)

Welcome to the son/daughter board here at bpdfamily. I am so sorry to hear of what you are going through. It must be especially difficult for you considering that you have the added problem of your chronic migraines. Are you managing to keep them under control?

Over on the right  Bullet: important point (click to insert in post) you will see TOOLS and LESSONS, these are a good starting point for finding out more about BPD and ways of communicating with someone who has the disorder. I’m thinking that maybe Communicate Boundaries & Limits under the TOOLS heading might be helpful for you seeing as you have indicated that you “don’t know how much longer you can take all this”, I am assuming that by “all this” you mean the text messages (please correct me if I am wrong)

I look forward to hearing more from you x

It sounds like it might be stressful  to be talking to her as well.  Are you? If so,  what are you sharing regarding your son?
