I'm worried about my teenager

My teen has very strong emotions. They are in recovery from anorexia but since they are weight recovered and maintaining they have decided that they are no longer in need of care and anything/everything that reminds them of the condition or treatment triggers fury.

As their mother I am the most frequent focus of this rage. It feels like an emotionally abusive relationship. When my child was in residential care, family therapy was part of the program but when they were released my child refused to participate in family therapy. My teen is currently refusing to work with their therapist individually because they "don't believe in therapy" they canceled thier most recent appointment and haven't rescheduled.

My child is a high school student and just recently went back to school, having missed the latter third of the previous school year due to residential treatment. 

Our objective is to better understand the struggles our child faces and to learn the skills to improve our relationship and provide a supportive environment and also improve on our own emotional responses, attitudes and effectiveness as a family leaders

I’m so sorry to hear of what you are going through with your teenage child, and that any reminder of the previous condition, anorexia, and it’s treatment triggers fury. You really must be feeling like you are walking on eggshells.

My heart goes out to you, it can be so difficult to keep pwBPD in treatment if they decide that they either don’t want it or don’t need it. I know with my uBPD son he was totally in denial so therapy or treatment of any kind has just not been an option.
