I think my husband has BPD. After four years of complete chaos I came upon BPD criteria and it all made sense. I’m not sure what the next step to take is.

Hi yellowwarbler,

Welcome to the BPD Family  Welcome new member (click to insert in post)

I'm on these boards because my significant other (SO) has an undiagnosed BPD ex-wife (uBPDxw).

I can tell you what I did when I first discovered BPD and that was to hit my local library and read everything they had on the topic.  I've never regretted doing that it gave me a good grounding in what BPD is.

A couple good books are... .

Overcoming Borderline Personality Disorder: A Family Guide for Healing and Change
by Valerie Porr

and

Stop Walking on Eggshells : Taking Your Life Back When Someone You Care about Has Borderline Personality Disorder by Paul T. Mason and Randi Kreger

I also want to point out the box to the right ---> each item is a link to more information.  You might want to start in the "Lessons" section.

Besides learning what you can about BPD, I would say hang out around here.  Everyone has someone with BPD in their lives, we all get it.  There is a ton of information, tools and support to be had here.

Can you tell us a little bit more about your story?  How long have you and your husband been together?  Any Children? What kinds of behaviors are you seeing?  What do you struggle with most?

I look forward to hearing more of your story.

Again Welcome  Welcome new member (click to insert in post)

Hi yellowwarbler,

educating yourself is really the first step. There are many angles to this and each situation is different. Figuring out what is going on and what to do is greatly speed up by writing down and sharing with people in similar situatons.

What led to the chaos? How was the situation before? What is the most burning issue?
