My husband recently started therapy for what we both thought would be DBT for a BPD diagnosis. In his last session (he hasn't gotten to the DBT portion yet, he's still in level 1 of determining which treatment plan will be best), his therapist said he thought that he should consider entering the RO (Radically Open) DBT treatment plan for overcontrolled emotions. Apparently overcontrolled is often misdiagnosed as BPD.

Just curious what other people have heard about this. So many of the posts I've read on here have mimicked what I've been through, however, the impulse control portion never really did fit. But the emotional disregulation, paranoia, angry outbursts, and abandonment issues do fit. Apparently, overcontrolled can also cause these things as eventually all that control must let loose.
